The pan-African organization Jacob’s Ladder Africa has announced that the GreenWorks 4 Africa Forum will take place from August 11 to 13, 2026 in Nairobi during an online press conference held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. The event aims to accelerate the development of green skills and the creation of sustainable jobs across the continent.

Speaking to the press on Tuesday, the pan-African organization Jacob’s Ladder Africa (JLA) confirmed the organization of the first-ever edition of the GreenWorks 4 Africa Forum, scheduled for August 11–13, 2026, in Nairobi, with the goal of promoting green entrepreneurship and boosting sustainable job creation in Africa.

The forum will bring together policymakers, businesses, and civil society organizations around an approach based on case studies and working sessions aimed at producing concrete solutions for the development of the green economy.

According to projections by the International Labour Organization, the green economy could generate more than 60 million jobs in Africa by 2030, particularly in the energy, waste management, and natural resource sectors.

“The potential of Africa’s green economy is undeniable, but these prospects will only become reality if we put in place the necessary infrastructure to support green enterprises,” said Sellah Bogonko, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Jacob’s Ladder Africa.

She added that the initiative aligns with Africa’s growing climate leadership ahead of COP32, which is expected to take place in Addis Ababa.

The forum also builds on the outcomes of the Second Africa Climate Summit, during which Jacob’s Ladder Africa established a pavilion dedicated to green jobs and skills development.

Over three days, participants will work in thematic groups focusing on renewable energy, e-mobility, climate-resilient agriculture, circular industry, natural capital, and industrial decarbonization.

Organizers expect the meeting to lead to the development of an African Toolkit for Green Jobs Development, as well as a Green Jobs Taxonomy for Africa, designed to guide public policies and investments in the sector.
